Weird Google results
Isabelle Hontebeyrie
Have you tried looking up "search engine" or "search engines" in Google?
The results are quite suprising...
I quite naturally expected Google to be the number one result and I can't understand why it isn't.
When you look up "search engine": in first place, there's Search Engine Watch (that has a page rank of 8), followed by Dogpile (also has a page rank of 8), then Lycos (page rank of only 6), then Alta Vista (page rank: 9) and then, in fifth place, Google with its perfect page rank (10).
Now, if you look up "search engines", the list is almost the same. Yahoo is number 2 and Google only in sixth place.
I did the same test on Yahoo: in both cases ("search engine" or "search engines") guess who comes first. Yahoo Search, of course.
PS: I tried the same thing with Google.fr and came up with the same results.
