US Miss World 2004 entries
Isabelle Hontebeyrie
This could fall under a category of "useless news" but I found it sort of funny that the Miss World organization would call for US women to send their applications in.
According to Miss World:
Judging at the US Miss World 2004 event will focus on "Beauty with a Purpose". All young women between the ages of 17 and 24, who meet the eligibility requirements and are strongly committed to utilizing their beauty and integrity purposefully to make the world a better place, are invited to register for the competition.
The application form can be found here, and the deadline for submittals is September 17, 2004.

I assume you mean Laura Miller, the mayor of Dallas? She has been a fantastic supporter of US Miss World for nearly a year now.

How about asking Laura Miller if the US Miss World winner selected at the beginning of October in Dallas will go to China in December 2004?

Please check the official Miss World website. The 2004 US Miss World call for entries is there.

Scam? That's a little harsh. Please go to the Official Miss World website at www.missworld.org and you will see that there is a statement about US Miss World, as well as a link to the site. Julia Morley is a huge supporter of what we are doing in the US, but please if you're in any doubt, ask her yourself.

Not useless news at all! It's nice to see some meaningful competition to Miss Universe starting to happen in the US. Miss World is a bigger event, but until now its profile in the US has been low. Wouldn't it be great if a local girl went on to win?
