Ads in Friends last episode: $ 2 million for 30 seconds
Isabelle Hontebeyrie
According to Andy Serwer, editor-at-large of Fortune magazine, Friends last episode is fetching hefty ad price.
Advertisers are paying Super Bowl-type prices to be on the May 6 finale of the NBC series "Friends" -- $2 million for a 30-second commercial. Fortune's Andy Serwer says this is a record ad price for sitcoms, but advertisers may not reach as many viewers as they think. "'MASH' had 105 million people watching their last episode," Serwer says. "It's estimated only about 50 million tops will watch the last episode of 'Friends.' So they are not getting as much bang for their buck."
