Mathias Friess, Director of Passenger Sales for Lufthansa in North America explains: "Our Connoisseurs on Board food and wine service, and in particular our FLight line healthy meal options, have always received very high marks from our Business Class passengers. Our decision to test a low-carb menu option responds to customer demands for even more dining alternatives and customization during flight."
The service is being developped by LSG Sky Chefs, Lufthansa's airline catering company, together with Lufthansa. The airline explains "the trial service will be available for two months, at which time Lufthansa will gauge passenger response and consider expansion to other markets."
The low-carb menu option will be featured in the Business Class menu and will include an appetizer, entree and dessert. According to the company, this initiative makes "Lufthansa the first airline to offer a complete low-carb meal."
