France: a bomb found under rail tracks
Isabelle Hontebeyrie
According to news agencies, an explosive device was found buried under train tracks east of Paris. But reports are contradictory.
AP mentions:
The Interior Ministry said the device did not resemble bombs described in threats by a mysterious and previously unknown group calling itself AZF.
Reuters indicates:
France's state-run SNCF railway found a suspected bomb including detonators half-buried on the main line between Paris and the Swiss city of Basle on Wednesday, the Interior Ministry said.
It said in a statement that the device had been made safe by bomb disposal experts.
AFP reports the device is similar to the one found a few days ago (USA Today) and linked to an organization calling itself AZF.
